A Possible Leap to the East Coast?
I thought I curbed my impulsive habits, but I was mistaken. I didn't plan on traveling to New York twice this year, but I'm blaming it on LinkedIn. I'd been spending a lot of time scrolling through the platform and I came across a post about the VOGUE Forces of Fashion event happening at the VOGUE offices in NYC. I'd been thinking of getting back into attending fashion events lately so why not fly across the country to network with fabulous fashion girlies?
Getting back to New York felt great. There's just something about strutting down the streets of that city. I've actually been toying around with the idea of moving to the East Coast since the fashion scene is obviously more active. But after much more thought, moving across the country might not be the most financially responsible decision with rents even more expensive than Seattle. Unless I found a reasonably-priced, two-bedroom apartment with tons of natural light right on the Hudson River with a daily view of the Manhattan skyline at sunrise, I'll plan on finding a more cost-effective city and just travel to NYC whenever something fabulous is happening.
The itinerary for Forces of Fashion on Thursday was robust; a full day of lectures and showcases. Honestly, it was almost too much fashion for one day, but I enjoyed making some new connections and getting to listen to knowledgeable industry professionals like Anne Lebovitz, Emily Ratajkowski, Marc Jacobs, and Linda Evangelista. Anna Wintour even showed up to greet everyone. It was so cool seeing her in person.
I also bought a ticket to Allure Magazine's Best of Beauty event on Saturday, however, I didn't stay too long because the event was packed with people who were simply standing in line for one beauty demonstration or another. I managed to wander around for about three minutes, grab my swag bag and leave.
And of course, I made sure to book reservations at some swanky restaurants while I was in town including Gran Morsi, Empire Rooftop, and Nohu Rooftop Bar & Restaurant. All absolutely delicious.
Lastly, since I didn't have time on my last trip to NYC, I booked a tour of SPYSCAPE. If you know me, you know that my favorite genre of movies is spy thrillers so having the opportunity to wander around an entire museum of spy gadget replicas, learn about famous missions, and determine what kind of spy I'd be (a "Spymaster", of course) was so much fun.
