The Power of Successful Women with MM.LaFleur

Waking up at 5:45 am this morning was a challenge considering I didn't even get out of bed yesterday until 10 am. I had a good reason for getting up so early, but when that alarm went off, I seriously reconsidered my decision. Luckily with my integrity intact, I rolled out of bed, took a shower, and dressed for The Power of Successful Women with MM.LaFleur.

I have to be honest, I didn't know anything about MM.LaFleur, before I RSVP'd to this event, hosted at The Riveter in Bellevue (it's the fifth location so far), but I'm glad I attended. Guests were treated to coffee, breakfast treats, and a chat with Caitlyn Agnew, founder, and publisher of Bellevue Lifestyle Magazine and co-founder of MM.LaFleur, Sarah LaFleur.MM.LaFleur is targeted at professional women selling its line of wear-to-work pieces including dresses, tops, pants, knitwear, and accessories.

The company also has a Bento Box service where customers can complete a style profile and have a box of pieces that fit their workplace lifestyle sent to them by MM.LaFleur stylists. How I longed to find something like this when I had an office job. I always felt either underdressed or a bit overdressed. While browsing through the site, all I kept thinking was, "Man, that looks super comfortable, but not too lazy." The pieces seem to take into account the length of time women spend in their outfits and also things like machine washability, stretch, and hooks that hide your bra straps in sleeveless dresses (YES! -- I scream as I'm writing this in my t-shirt and yoga pants in my home office...).

If you're looking for more in-person interaction, MM.LaFleur has showrooms in New York, Houston, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia; and pop-ups in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, and Miami where customers can get complimentary styling. And of course, I had to ask if Seattle would eventually be graced with the company's presence any time soon. To which Sarah excitedly asked the group for suggestions for possible locations. University Village seemed to have the popular vote while South Lake Union and Bellevue were other suggestions. Most were highly against a downtown Seattle location due to the constant construction and traffic. They also worried that customers wanted to focus on their styling appointment without worrying about their downtown parking time running out, which is a valid point.

Hopefully, this is only the beginning for MM.LaFleur in Seattle. I'd love to see the future impact of a company like this on the Pacific Northwest. Visit mmlafleur.com to shop, get a Bento Box, or schedule a styling session. You may also want to check out their blog, The M Dash. P.S. Guests also got a free copy of Wear to Work: A Guide to Building Your Ultimate Professional Uniform. I can't wait to gather some tips for future looks.
